And by that, I mean my bank card. Don’t get excited.
As of today, I leave in 9 days..
And that fact doesn’t scare me or make me nervous or make me feel panicked in any way.
Oh wait, it doooooeesssssss.
Today I went out to get some of the travel things I need for my trip. And that is super fun!
One kind of fun thing about moving to a new place is that no one knows who you are, so you can try new things and have a fresh start! And that’s really fun for me!
For this trip, I got updates on a lot of things.
- I updated my prescription and got new glasses and prescription sunglasses.
- I bought 3 new pairs of jeans.
- I got a new pair of rainboots.
- New Luggage
- New backpage
- New Windbreaker
- New Haircut (3 inches off, which is terrifying)
Today I was out for a few hours, grabbing some new school supplies. Walmart had a bunch of stuff for super cheap, so I was able to get a binder, some paper, pens, pencils, etc. And when I went to Indigo and got my fair share of notebooks! Notebooks that in hind sight, I probably don’t need, but oh my they are pretty 🙂

The “Emma” book was a gift from my mother, but I thought it completed the set nicely 🙂 I chose the navy book in the middle because it was reminiscent of this blog’s title, and I thought it was a nice message. I also got a super cute agenda (top left), a cute pencil case (top right), and 2 other notebooks (the other 2 in the picture). I thought “Wherever you go, go with all your heart” was really pretty, and something I think is really important. While this trip is a big one, I’m hoping to go on many more adventures, but that doesn’t necessarily mean travelling. Adventures come in many different forms, and I think its important to invest all of you into anything you do. And “Dream bigger darling” is just super cute and I think “Darling” is a really cute thing to be called.
So I bought 3 notebooks in addition to the one given to me and my binder and paper for school. So I will definitely always have somewhere and something to write on.
I also thought it was time I updated my reading material. I had a nice image of me riding a train with my glasses on, reading a classic book. So, with an Indigo gift card given to me for my birthday, I bought 4 new books to read while I’m gone.
Don’t worry though, I still have my tablet and Kindle app to indulge in those YA novels we all secretly love 🙂
And, to stick with tradition, I bought myself a new pair of TOMS to take with me. I buy a new pair of TOMS for every trip I go on. When I went to Greece, I bought new TOMS. I get new TOMS for university as well (because I wear them out – I wear my TOMS everywhere!). So this trip is no different – I need good comfy shoes I can wear anywhere.

And these ones were on sale too – SCORE!
Now comes the hard part – packing.
Packing a suitcase for months of travel is hard. Because what if I don’t think I want to pack something, and then 2 weeks later I find out its something I need. That’s super frustrating.
But I don’t want to pack too much because my luggage will be too heavy and annoying to carry, or I won’t have room to bring things home at the end of my trip. And if I overpack, I may use up room that could be used by other things I would like to take as well.
The stress.
And that may not seem stressful for you, but I find it stressful.
I’m now doing all my laundry and sorting through all my clothes and setting them aside to pack them up. So my outfits for the next week may not totally match. You have been warned.
Are these posts boring you yet? It’ll pick up soon, just you wait..
UPDATE: Feb. 10
I’m trying to pack my suitcases to see if I have enough room, and it is the most overwhelming thing of my life. I want to die. I’ve cried twice today. Both while being surrounded by my stuff and my very small luggage. Send help. I’m doomed.
UPDATE: Feb. 10 (later)
I made some sacrifices, cried one more time, and managed to fit everything into my suitcases, with a little wiggle room. The world is good again. And I still have a whole week to perfect the system. I feel much better. Thanks for sticking with me.
