pleasant picnic

Well, after our Munich travel fiasco, I was really looking for a safe and reliable mode of transportation.

And boy did I find one! 🙂

The Steyrtal-Museumsbahn.

Yes dad, I did it.

And on Sunday too!!!

The Steyr Museum Train runs from Steyr to Grünburg, about 17 km alongside the Steyr river. It is the oldest narrow gauge railway in Austria, and is over 100 years old. Its a real steam powered engine too, and there were guys in coveralls shoveling coal at the front of the train. Pretty authentic.

The ride lasts about an hour, and dropped us off in Grünburg around 11am.

WEEELLLLL me and Ireland had our backpacks packed for the day, and set off into the local National Park in search of the perfect spot to spend the afternoon.

All thanks to Hazel’s good faith and sight, we found a really nice spot along the river with ACTUAL SAND! It was soooo nice!! Here, if people say “let’s go to the beach”, they pretty much just mean “Let’s go schwimming”. Along the river is mostly large and/or small rocky patches. But Hazel found some SAND!

So we had the perfect picnic!

Complete with chocolate, sweets, chips, fruit, pop, wasser, salad, sandwiches, gummi, cards, loud music, coloring books and nice blankets to relax on.

It was pretty perfect!

We were there from about 11:45-16:00. Near the end we were all just laying out with our backpacks as pillows and reminiscing, listening to music. It wasn’t a very sunny day, but it was fine, and it didn’t rain, so that’s pretty good haha!

We had to eventually depart and take the train back to Steyr. 😦

This day was kind of like an ode to the semester.

Our exams are in 1 week from today, and I’m pretty nervous about my German final. We have class on 3 days this week, which is probably the busiest week I’ve had (sorry). I also have to start packing and cleaning my flat because I won’t have time when I get back from our Italy trip. So I have to study, clean, pack, go to class, and say all my goodbyes!!!!!!

I’m dreading it quite frankly. I feel very overwhelmed, and as I tend to do when I feel overwhelmed, I bury myself in my bed and let my problems pile ontop of me. I bought my last round of groceries on Saturday, including a cake from the bakery that I am trying hard not to finish off on my own….. I’M STRESS EATING!!

I also have no idea how to pack for our week in Italy into 1 backpack…. #girlproblems

Also I don’t know how I will spend my days in Vienna before I leave.

And I have to unregister my visa at City Hall before I go.

And give my friends my Canadian gifts I brought from home.

And I have to actually mail the postcards I’ve been collecting because if I don’t soon I will get home before they arrive!!!

And I have to study. Did I mention that part?

And what am I doing? Blogging.

Typical.

Don’t worry, everything always works out. I’ll be okay. My friend at the Kebap shop will help me through it 😀

KIDDING I’ll go eat a salad now.

bye.

Finally you took the local scenic train ride, I can now relax. No hassle with connections. Looks like you had fun.

Remember you also have your smaller bag on wheels to pack things in on your trip.
